An accident at the corner of North Broom Street and West Johnson Street resulted in a SUV being flipped and a Madison Metro bus being damaged, according to Madison Fire Department Spokesperson Joe Seifert.
The accident was reported at 11:04 p.m. and six emergency units responded, according to MFD. Firefighters were on scene three minutes later. The bus allegedly flipped the SUV.
When firefighters arrived on the scene there were no leaking fluids, according to the MFD daily report filed Friday morning. A firefighter entered through the hatchback to cover the occupants and talk with them.
MFD then removed the windshield and created a flap in the roof. Firefighters removed one passenger through the windshield and the other through the flap, according to the daily report.
The two passengers from the SUV were taken to the University of Wisconsin Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to MFD.
According to Madison Metro Transit Marketing & Customer Service Manager Mick Rusch, Madison Metro drivers get in contact with dispatch immediately after an accident and dispatch coordinates with 911.
Then, Rusch said, after the hazards are assessed at the scene, the surveillance from the bus is evaluated. Both Madison police and Metro officials review the surveillance.
Rusch said after last night's surveillance review, police issued a citation to the driver of the vehicle. He added the Metro bus driver was found to not be at fault and the Madison Metro investigation has been closed.
