Student struck by car sustains broken leg

A UW-Madison student struck by a hit-and-run driver suffered a broken leg early Saturday morning.

Kristin Wieben, 19, was hit around 2:30 a.m. 'by what the police think was a drunk driver,' according to UW-Madison senior Alexander Conant, a witness to the accident.

There were 12 other students with Wieben when a sedan crashed through the crowd at the intersection of West Washington Avenue and Bedford Street heading toward Capitol Square. Wieben was the only pedestrian injured.

'The car just plowed through the whole lot of us,' Conant said.

He added that 'if anyone has any leads, they should call the Madison Police Department.'
