Falk budget plan would restore Tenant Resource Center funds, raise tax levy

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk introduced the 2002 county budget Monday.

The $381.6 million budget contains a 4.55 percent tax levy increase, which Falk said is the combined rate of the county's population growth and inflation.

Ald. Brenda Konkel, District 2, who works with the Tenant Resource Center, said a misunderstanding with Dane County staff resulted in a recommendation for a cut in the center's budget.

'Originally the staff had recommended that we get a 38 percent cut, which is $36,000. Kathleen Falk restored that for us,' Konkel said. 'We are relatively pleased that we didn't get the huge cut that we were slated to get.'
