Hazardous materials leak at Water Science

A report of a hydrogen sulfide vapor leak at the Water Science Building led UW Police to block off areas surrounding the building at 660 N. Park St. Saturday.

The Madison Fire Department and Hazardous Material Unit determined that the levels of hydrogen sulfide vapor, which is considered dangerous, were within safe ranges.

The first report of the leak indicated that the vapor was coming from an experiment underway in the building. No one suffered any injuries from the vapor.
