(U-WIRE) COLUMBUS, Ohio'An Ohio State University professor of political science and sociology has helped develop a system designed to predict the instability of foreign countries in hopes of preventing future conflicts.
Professor Craig Jenkins said the system, labeled \Conflict Carrying Capacity,"" was created for advanced warning of generalized violence in specific countries.
The system produces up-to-date numerical scores for stability within nations' political structures. Researchers hope these scores will act as red flags to warn nations if a particular country is on the verge of a breakdown.
According to Jenkins, the concepts behind the CCC are not exactly new. He said similar systems are used by the Swiss Foreign Ministry as well as other government agencies, such as the CIA.
