Ushering in the fall legislative floor period, state Assembly democrats announced yesterday their plans to make the working families of Wisconsin their main focus in light of the recent economic downturn.
Outlined in the assembly democrats' agenda is the topic of affordable education. Assembly Minority Leader Spencer Black, D-Madison, has proposed a bill that requires that state financial aid funding be increased by at least the same percentage as UW System tuition hikes.
'We must make sure that no student is denied the opportunity to higher education because of financial situations,' Black said.
