The Associated Students of Madison's Student Judiciary board heard the case of Student Judiciary v. Evans and Krupp Sunday.
Austin Evans and Trent Krupp, both first-year students, filed a complaint after being deemed ineligible to run for freshman seats on ASM due to their sophomore standings.
Krupp enrolled with 31 Advanced Placement credits; Evans with 26.
\Bottom line'we're not sophomores,"" Evans said. ""This is our ninth week [here].""
Nick Kanter, ASM student election commission chair, said the students had to be classified as sophomores, as university policy considers a student with 24 credits and 48 grade points a sophomore.
Kanter noted that transfer students would be eligible to run for freshman seats if the only criterion was first-year status.
