General Motors Corp. will donate $500,000 to UW-Madison for its research related to the development of cleaner, more efficient gasoline and diesel engines, the automaker announced Monday.
GM chose the university for the one-year grant largely based on its Engine Research Center in its College of Engineering.
Hazem A. Ezzat, director of GM's powertrain systems research laboratory, said the center \is one of the leading engine research facilities in the world.""
""The ERC faculty continues to be committed to the development and application of new analysis and diagnostic tools for engines and to the transfer of this technology to the engine industry,"" said Rolf Reitz, director of the ERC.
GM also has partnership agreements with Brown University, Carnegie-Mellon University, Stanford University, the University of Michigan and Jiaotong University in Shanghai, China.
