CAIRO, Egypt'A videotape aired in part Monday night by the pan-Arab satellite television news network al-Jazeera shows Osama bin Laden and his top deputy, Ayman Zawahiri, kneeling together in praise of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and at the Pentagon.
The tape, delivered to the network's main office in Qatar a week ago, seemed designed as a bid by bin Laden's sympathizers to keep their leader on the world stage and taunt the Bush administration, which has tried in vain to kill or capture him since launching the war in Afghanistan last October.
The broadcast marked the sixth time since Sept. 11 that videotapes of bin Laden, head of the al Qaeda terrorist organization, and his followers have made their way into the public debate about the attacks, often via al-Jazeera.
