National Academy of Science accepts UW staff

The National Academy of Sciences elected two UW-Madison faculty members'geneticist John Doebley and physicist Willy Haeberli'Tuesday. 

 

 

 

There are 46 other current or emeritus members of the UW-Madison faculty who are recipients of the honor. With a current membership of 1,907, the NAS elected 72 scientists at their 139th annual meeting. 

 

 

 

Doebly, a professor of genetics, is an expert on the genetic evolution of corn. After receiving a doctorate in botany from UW-Madison in 1980, he became a faculty member in 1999.

Haeberli, a professor of physics and natural sciences, specializes in nuclear polarization. He has been a UW-Madison faculty member since 1956.
