Democratic gubernatorial candidate state Attorney General Jim Doyle received key support for his candidacy from three Wisconsin Democratic members of Congress this past weekend, two of whom backed U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett, D-Milwaukee, in the primary.
Both U.S. Reps. Dave Obey, D-Wausau, and Ron Kind, D-LaCrosse, both had previously endorsed their fellow congressman, but both expressed conciliatory views of Doyle.
\Sometimes choosing a candidate is like choosing your favorite flavor of ice cream,"" Obey said. ""I like butter pecan, but I also like chocolate. You can have more than one favorite.""
Last Friday saw U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., give Doyle his official endorsement.
""[Doyle] knows that the first thing we need to do to encourage economic growth is to hold the line on taxes,"" Kohl said.
