Early application submission up

Some UW System schools have seen a rise in early submission of applications this year due to concerns that the budget problems will lead to smaller classes.

UW-Stout in Menominee, Wis., has received 52 percent more applications now than at this time last year, according to John Enger, executive director of university relations at UW-Stout.

Students' fears come following last year's state budget turmoil, which caused the UW Board of Regents to temporarily freeze admissions for system schools.
