The UW volleyball team improved its record to 6-2 overall after falling to UC-Santa Barbara and crushing American and Duke in the Duke Classic last weekend.
The Badgers opened their weekend on a sour note, as they faced off against No. 18 Santa Barbara and came off the court with 30-24, 30-20 and 30-27 losses.
The Badgers had a difficult game, as the team hit a season-low .165 percent, with 14 service errors and 20 hitting errors.
Senior outside hitter Lori Rittenhouse led UW with nine kills, while senior outside hitter Erin Byrd had eight.
The Santa Barbara Guachos outhit UW 50-40 in kills, outdug 53-37 and outblocked 8.5-7.
Saturday, the Badgers got off to a better start, as they defeated American University before sweeping Duke.
The Badgers performed well against the Eagles, defeating them 30-26, 30-20 and 30-19. The team entered the court with a new starting lineup that included moving Rittenhouse back to right-side hitter and started freshman middle blocker Lauren Ford. The change in lineup showed, as Rittenhouse had 14 kills, while Ford had nine kills and three blocks.
The Badgers continued their winning streak against the Blue Devils, putting up 30-19, 30-15 and 30-15 wins. Senior middle blocker Amy Hultgren led the team with seven blocks; the team recorded eight total while Duke only mustered four. UW also outdug Duke 56-37, and Haberli recorded a career-high 11.
Offensively, Wisconsin dominated on the court, recording 57 kills and a .402 hitting percentage. Rittenhouse led the team in kills, with 13, while Hultgren and junior outside hitter Lisa Zukowski put up 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
