The men's hockey team (4-2 overall) earned a road win and loss this weekend, falling to No. 4 Boston College 4-2 Friday but picking up a win at Northeastern 5-1 Saturday.
BC freshman forward Patrick Eaves, son of UW Head Coach Mike Eaves, had two goals during the night.
Saturday, the Badgers met up with the Northeastern Huskies and came out victorious in a 5-1 drubbing. Wisconsin scored four times in the first period and converted on all three of its power plays.
Freshman center Nick Licari started off the scoring for the Badgers, followed by junior left wing Rene Bourque, who tallied two goals. Sophomore center Joe Simon and senior forward Brad Winchester also scored for the Badgers, while Bruckler had 37 saves.
The women's hockey team (0-1-1 WCHA, 4-1-1 overall) hosted No. 1 University of Minnesota-Duluth this weekend, taking a tough 7-2 loss Friday but holding the Bulldogs to a 3-3 tie Saturday.
Junior forward Karen Rickard started the scoring, firing a shot past UMD goaltender senior Patricia Sautter late in the first period. UM-D continued the scoring in the second period, as sophomore forward Nora Tallus put another point on the board for the Bulldogs, her first of two for the night. However, UW responded with a goal from junior forward Steph Millar. It was the Badgers' last goal of the night as Minnesota-Duluth, led by senior forward Erica Holst, who had two goals and is the nation's leading scorer. Saturday, the Badgers dueled the Bulldogs, resulting in a 3-3 tie.
Two freshmen netted goals for Wisconsin: Forward Sharon Cole earned her third of the season minutes into the game, while freshman forward Nikki Burish slipped one past Sautter for the equalizer. Rickard scored the Badgers' third and final goal.
The No. 15 Wisconsin volleyball team (6-4 Big Ten, 15-6 overall) defeated No. 9 Penn State this weekend 23-30, 32-30, 21-30, 30-28, 15-10. The win marks the first time in history that Wisconsin has beaten the Nittany Lions (8-2, 18-3) on the road.
Wisconsin had four players finish the game in double-figure kills as well as five players finish in double-figure digs. Senior outside hitter Erin Byrd led both teams with 25 kills and a career-high 24 digs. Additionally, junior setter Morgan Shields finished the game with three aces and a personal best 76 assists.
The Wisconsin men's soccer team (2-3-0 Big Ten, 8-8-0 overall) defeated the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, Mich., on Sunday, 2-1.
Badger sophomore forward Nick Van Sicklen and freshman forward Phil Doeh gave Wisconsin two first-half goals that the Spartans were unable to surmount.
This victory snaps the Badgers' four-game losing streak.
This weekend saw two road victories for the Wisconsin women's soccer team (4-4-2 Big Ten, 9-7-3 overall).
The Badgers finished their Big Ten regular season Friday night with a 4-1 victory at Minnesota. Freshman midfielder Katy Lindermuth led all players with two goals.
Wisconsin continued its strong play Sunday with a 3-1 win over the UW-Green Bay Phoenix. Senior midfielder and co-captain Lauren Schmidt contributed two goals while sophomore midfielder Amy Vermeulen had one goal and two assists.
