State Attorney General Jim Doyle still leads in the race for governor, according to the latest Badger Poll released Thursday.
Forty-one percent of respondents said they would vote for Doyle if the election were today, with 34 percent going to Gov. Scott McCallum, 10 percent to Libertarian Ed Thompson and 2 percent to Green Party candidate Jim Young. Twelve percent said they were undecided.
\The margin of Doyle's lead was very small, flirting with the margin of error,"" Badger Poll Director G. Donald Ferree said. ""Turnout will be critical to both major candidates' chances.""
The poll surveyed 501 registered voters from Oct. 24-29. The margin of error was 5 percent.
Doyle was the only candidate in the poll whose favorable rating outweighed his unfavorable rating, 35 percent to 34 percent. McCallum's unfavorable rating was 41 percent and his favorable rating was 32 percent.
