While most students visit family over Thanksgiving vacation, some decide to stay at school. For those students, many organizations throughout the university have planned services and activities to pass the time.
For Thanksgiving day, the Lakefront Caf?? at the Memorial Union will host its annual all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. More than 250 people are expected to attend.

Memorial Union will not be open Thanksgiving day, with the exception of the Thanksgiving buffet, but will be open Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Rathskeller will be serving food during those times.
Students who spend the holiday in University Housing might want to consider the Thanksgiving buffet, because University Housing Food Services will be closed Thursday through Saturday, according to Barb Brickson, housing food service manager at Chadbourne Residence Hall.
Ed's Express, Carson's Carryout, Frank's Place and Pop's Club will open late Sunday afternoon.
Friday, students can head to the Elvehjem Museum of Art where a new exhibit opens featuring the art of Gillian Jagger. The Elvehjem will be open Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The museum is open Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Later that evening, at the Kohl Center, the Badgers will take on the Michigan Wolverines at 7:05 p.m. for the 10th annual College Hockey Showcase. The game will be televised live on FoxSports Net, according to Julie Kluge, UW hockey sports information director.
The Badgers will face Michigan State on Saturday for the second day of the College Hockey Showcase. That game also starts at 7:05 p.m. and will be televised at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on UPN 14.
The Laugh Lines Comedy Club will feature comedian Dennis Stalker at the Orpheum Theatre, 216 State St., on both Friday and Saturday nights. According to Kennedy Stalker was a finalist in the Funniest Person in Wisconsin contest. He will perform two shows each night, at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. The show is co-sponsored by PACE and the Wisconsin Union Directorate.
Rachel O'Konis, University Health Service communication specialist, said that while clinic services will probably be slow, all UHS offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday. UHS will be closed Thanksgiving day.
""Friday is usually the big pharmacy day because people come in to get their prescriptions filled before the weekend,"" she said.
