The Madison Department of Public Health is investigating complaints of food poisoning from five people who ate at the White Horse Inn, 202 N. Henry St., over Thanksgiving.
Amanda Kita-Yarbrow, who leads the investigation, said the department took stool samples from the affected patrons. The samples are being tested for common bacteria and viruses with gastrointestinal symptoms, including salmonella, E. coli and the Norwalk virus, which recently plagued cruise ships in Florida and also hit the UW-Hospital over Thanksgiving.
The health department investigates any incidents that draw complaints from more than one group of people, Kita-Yarbrow said.
White Horse Inn owner Drew Roznowski said the health department told him there were no problems with food preparation at his restaurant, and the restaurant had over 1000 patrons on Thanksgiving.
