Experience the greenhouse effect

During these cold months, the botany greenhouse located in Birge Hall gives students a chance to stroll through exotic environments created by a variety of colorful, interesting and often beneficial plant species from all over the globe.

According to Mo Fayyaz, director of the greenhouse and garden, \abiotic factors, such as temperature, light, nutrients and water,"" determine which of the eight rooms each plant species is placed in. Thus, the greenhouse holds more than 1,000 species from distinct aquatic, desert and tropical biomes.

Students will also find the greenhouse to be a warm, scenic place to spend a few minutes between classes.
