Students walking past Madhatters, 3 University Square, over the weekend may have wondered why the bar was dark and unoccupied.
The tavern closed for the weekend to serve out a suspension handed down by the Alcohol License Review committee months ago, according to City Council President Mike Verveer, District 4.
Verveer said the suspension came because the bar had underage drinking violations in May. The ALRC decided to make Madhatters serve the suspension during the home football opener, he said.
