While North Carolina and Virginia as well as other East Coast locations prepare for Hurricane Isabel, UW-Madison's Space Science and Engineering Center is tracking and analyzing Isabel to determine what she will do next.
The SSEC's Tropical Cyclone Research Group is contributing its information to the National Hurricane Center, which generates advisories for locations expected to be hit.
Though Isabel has become less intense in the past few days, Virginia and North Carolina announced states of emergency and Christopher Velden, head of SSEC, said he thinks Isabel may regain strength before it strikes the East Coast.
Approximately 100,000 residents in both North Carolina and Virginia have been advised to evacuate.
As of Wednesday, the hurricane was in North Carolina heading Northwest near 13 miles per hour.
