Berlin Project still underway

Somewhere in the middle of the current state of rock 'n' roll post-punk you will find The Berlin Project. With heavy guitar riffs and crooning vocals characteristic of each song, it becomes apparent that this band has talent. They have not yet reached their creative peak, having further to go in writing and executing their songs.

Like so many bands stuck between indie, punk and emo, The Berlin Project's songs all somehow seem to sound very close to each other. That does not mean that each song lacks individual merit, but the listener's urge is to skip ahead a few songs to those that are more distinctive and complete, namely the title track \The Things We Say"" and the quickly moving ""Celebrity."" Standing out on their recent album are the jumping, well-played guitar lines that drive the songs before having to take a subdued back seat to the often overpowering, though remarkably on-key vocals.

Overall, this album is a stepping stone to greater music and, from the appearance of their Web site, to greater stardom. If audiences like indie and punk-rock and being able to say ""I knew them when..."" then this is an album for them.
