A family friend of the Wisconsin soldier killed Sunday in Iraq said Wednesday the family will hold her funeral later this week, according to the Associated Press.
Rachel Bosveld of Waupun, Wis., was killed in a mortar attack on a police station in Abu Ghraib, Iraq. She is the fifth person from Wisconsin to die in Iraq this year. Her remains will return home via Germany and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., probably by the weekend.
Rachel Bosveld would have turned 20 Nov. 7. Her father, Marvin Bosveld, and mother, Mary Bosveld, adopted Rachel Bosveld when she was two months old.
\Oh my gosh. I'll tell you this, she's my baby. She's my only daughter,"" her mother told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. ""We went everywhere together. She's very, very precious to our family.""
Her father said he could not bear to open the last letter from his daughter, which arrived in the mail Tuesday.
