The Student Services Finance Committee decided Monday to give WisPIRG $94,740 of the $116,520 the organization requested for this year.
Some SSFC members said they think WisPIRG should not fund lobbyists in Washington with student funds, which resulted in the majority of the cuts.
However, WisPIRG intern and sophomore Ross Mudrick said such Washington affiliates give back to the campus.
\Without the advocates in Washington, our work on a campus-wide level cannot be as affective,"" he said.
Additionally, Diversity Education Programs received $362,520, approximately $25,000 than last year.
DEP Director Jos?? Madera said he is not confident in SSFC's funding process.
""Students aren't trained to deal with million dollar budgets,"" he said.
