The UW System Board of Regents collectively approved a system aimed at easing student credit transfers between UW System and Wisconsin Technical College System schools Friday.
Under the new system, which the regents said they hope to implement by fall 2004, students would transfer occupational/ technical credits from WTCS schools to UW System schools without the course necessarily coinciding with the UW System school's course offerings.
Additionally, the regents decided to create a group of general education courses for WTCS schools that will transfer to any UW system school. Thirty of such core credits can count toward a major.
To allow students to plan better for their college careers, regents voted to rewrite explanations on requirements for graduation in light of their transfer credits.
Finally, the regents decided to generate credit transfer contracts for students to have as proof of their credit transfers.
However, the regents may add more conditions to the program in the future.
Beyond the new service, regents also approved new scoreboards for Camp Randall and the Kohl Center and additional maintenance for Camp Randall and the Shell.
