Madison will host ESPN's Great Outdoor Games next July, according to The Capital Times.
Madison was one of seven cities under consideration for the event, which will run July 8 to 11.
The Great Outdoor Games will feature fishing, target shooting, timber sports and sporting dogs, with approximately 250 competitors.
Many events will be held at the Alliant Energy Center, Quann Park on the city's south side and natural venues around Dane County.
Twenty-one Wisconsin athletes competed in the 2003 Games, including Shana Martin from Madison, who placed fourth in the women's log boom run.

A glow-in-the-dark pet goldfish is expected to appear in stores next month except those in California, which has a ban on lab-engineered species, according to CNN.com.
The GloFish is a fluorescent fish developed by scientists in Singapore, who discovered they could make the fish glow green or red by inserting genes from jellyfish or sea anemone.
State wildlife officials say the fish is not dangerous to the environment, but critics say the \Frankenfish"" could establish themselves in warm waters.
The Center for Food Safety wants the Food and Drug Administration to regulate the marketing of GloFish, but the FDA says federal agencies do not have jurisdiction.
