The president of the University of Colorado requested an investigation of a rape allegation by a former female football player Wednesday, according to CNN.com
Katie Hnida, a 1999 place-kicker for the team, told Sports Illustrated she was abused and molested by her teammates, and raped on one occasion. According to CNN.com, she said she never reported the rape to police.
University President Elizabeth Hoffman has created a liaison position in the school's athletic department to determine the verity of Hnida's allegations and whether the allegations were isolated incidents or common occurrences within the school's sports teams.
Colorado's head coach Gary Barnett, according to CNN.com, said Hnida never informed him of any sexual harassment from teammates, and called her a \distraction"" and an ""awful"" player.
Barnett said he has no plans to resign.
An explosion that rocked a convoy in Iraq took the life of another Wisconsin soldier Monday, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported Wednesday.
Pfc. Nichole Frye of Lena, Wis., north of Green Bay, was killed 16 days after she arrived in Iraq.
Before she died, Frye told her family and friends she became a civil affairs specialist in the Army Reserve so she could help others.
""She wanted to help people more than hurt people. And civil affairs, they help people,"" Lisa Frye, her mother, said Tuesday. ""She didn't really want anyone to know it, but she was afraid. She knew it was something that she chose to do and she wanted to help people.""
Frye was the 540th American soldier to be killed in Iraq since the hostilities began in March. She was engaged and wanted to be either a firefighter or police officer after she returned.
Wisconsin had 44 percent voter turnout for Tuesday's primaries, the highest turnout for a primary in the state since the spring of 1980, according to The Capital Times.
Dane County Clerk Joe Parisi said 147,289 voters went to the polls in Dane County and added that the high turnout was likely because the Democratic presidential primary and the casino referendum were both on the ballot.
According to a report by The Associated Press, many Republicans and Independents also participated in the primary.
