The Wisconsin women's hockey team might be the best kept secret on campus. The lady Badgers have quietly moved into a tie with this weekend's opponent, Minnesota, atop the Western Collegiate Hockey Association standings with 13-4-1 conference record (17-4-3 overall), and are currently ranked No. 4 in the nation.
The Badgers have reached this lofty status under the tutelage of second-year coach Mark Johnson, who is on pace to win his second straight WCHA coach of the year award. The team has bought into his defense first strategy, and, as a result, are holding their opponents to a mere 34 goals on the season.
