Women's junior defender Carla MacLeod was named second-team All-American Monday, according to the American Hockey Coaches Association. MacLeod was also honored to the second-team all-Western Collegiate Hockey Assoication earlier this season.
MacLeod, a team captain for the Badgers, tallied 23 points as a blueliner this year, including a career-high five goals. Her 18 assists were the most since her freshman year, when she had a team-high 23 assists on the year.
Under MacLeod's leadership, the Badgers finished with a 25-6-3 overall record (18-5-1 WCHA), the best-ever finish for UW. The season culminated in a 5-4 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the third place game of the WCHA Final Five.
MacLeod was the only Badger named to either of the AHCA All-American teams. The WCHA garnered seven of the 12 All-American spots available with Minnesota-Duluth leading all teams with three selections.
