The men's track and field team ended the weekend after a competition at the Texas Relays.
Sophomore Alonzo Moore finished second in the triple jump at 49' 9' while Rick Bellford was fourth at 49' 3 ??'. Sophomore Joe Conway finished 12th in the long jump at 23' 2 ??'.
In the throws, freshman Joe Thomas was 16th in the shot put at 52' 9 ??'.
The women's track and field team continued the outdoor season last weekend at the Boise State Invitational. Sophomore Erica Schoeller and freshman Shuntia Lucas won two events.
Schoeller won the 400 meters at 54.9 seconds, a personal best and sixth best on the UW all-time list. Senior Kym Hubing finished second in the 400 at 56.61 seconds.
Schoeller also won the long jump at 18' 10 ??'. Junior Christina Taylor was third at 18' 3'.
Lucas won both the 100 and 200 meters and set new personal bests of 11.94 seconds and 24.47 seconds respectively in both events. Freshman Venus Washington was the second UW finisher in both races, coming in fifth in the 100 meters (12.23) and sixth in the 200 meters (25.58). Washington also finished fourth in the long jump at 18' 1'.
Senior Angie Kolanko topped the high jump competition with a personal best of 5' 8 ??'.
Junior Courtney Bauer broke her own record in the hammer. Bauer finished sixth at 166' 7' to improve her own school record by almost two feet.
Wisconsin finished second in three events, the 4x100-meter relay in 46.85 and second in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:55.31 and redshirt freshman 'A Havahla Haynes finished the 1500 meters in 4:46.93
Junior Heidi Lane finished third at 4:49.56 and sophomore Tara Halls was sixth in 4:52.74 in the same event.
Sophomore Lauren Lasseter tied for third in the pole vault at 10'11 ??' while sophomore Erin Brueggeman and junior Andrea Lopez tied for fifth at 10' 6'.
UW placed sixth and seventh in the shot. Sophomore Jamae Gjermo finished the shot at 45' ??' while Bauer was at 44' 11 ??'. Also in the field events, senior Yael Peled finished sixth in the triple jump at 34' 7 ??'.
The women's golfers finished a three-round, 54-hole course at Indiana University. The Badgers fired a third round 333 and a combined 973 to finish in 12th place.
In the final round, sophomore Lindsay McMillan and freshman Nicki Morse led the team in the final round, shooting an 81. McMillan tied for 27th with a total 238 for the tournament. Morse tied for 48th with 245.
Wisconsin's leading scorer, Malinda Johnson, did not travel this weekend due to injury.
Missouri finished first with a 908 to finish 13 strokes ahead of second-place Michigan State. Indiana, Iowa and Notre Dame rounded out the top five.
The Badgers will play in the Boilermaker Invitational on April 17-18 in West Lafayette, Ind.
