Cleveland Cavalier guard LeBron James won NBA Rookie of the Year honors Monday, capping off a freshman campaign that brought Cleveland from a cellar-dweller to running for the playoffs this season. James is the youngest player ever to win the award.
James received 508 votes, including 78 first-place votes. Second place went to Denver guard Carmelo Anthony with 480 votes and the other 40 first-place votes. Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade took third with 117 votes.
James averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists a game for Cleveland.
