Johnson brings home more honors

The good news keeps rolling in for Wisconsin senior women?s golfer Malinda Johnson. After finishing fourth at the Big Ten Championships last weekend at Ohio State, Johnson was named to the All-Big Ten first team. The honor was the second such award for Johnson, but the first time being named to the first team. She was named to the All-Big Ten second team last year.

Johnson, who was tied for first place after day one of the Big Ten Championships, finished the tournament with scores of 72-73-77-77, which placed her 12 shots behind the winner. Her overall score of 299 was three behind the all-time Badger record of 296, a record which Johnson, along with former Badger Allie Blomquist, owns as well.

Along with being named to the all-conference team, Johnson was also qualified to compete in the NCAA Central Regional. Johnson was the first golfer selected to compete in the regional, which will be held May 6 to 8 and hosted by Illinois State University.
