Men's tennis edges PSU 4-3 at Big Ten Championships

The Wisconsin men's tennis team (3-8 Big Ten, 8-14 overall,) pulled off an upset in the first round of the Big Ten Tounament Thursday over Penn State. The tenth-seeded Badgers edged out Penn State (4-7, 13-10overall ), the seventh seed, 4-3 in their opening match.  

 

 

 

Wisconsin took the lead early, gaining the doubles point. Wisconsin took both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. 

 

 

 

Later, the Badgers and Nittany Lions split in singles action. Wisconsin's senior co-captains David Hippee and Scott Green both registered points in singles play. Sophomore Matt Weinig took the third singles point for Wisconsin.

The Badgers advance to the second round where they will take on the second-seeded Ohio State. Wisconsin lost to the Buckeyes 7-0.
