The Teaching Assistants' Association will negotiate with the state and UW bargaining team April 19, the same day the TAA will finish collecting votes to decide whether to go on strike.
According to a press release, the TAA attempted negotiations March 10 but did not reach a compromise.
If the TAA does not compromise Monday and TAA members vote for a strike, the TAA will stage a two-day strike in late April and a possible grade strike.
Nine departments sent letters of support to the TAA and some agreed not to punish students if they participate in the strike, according to the press release. The departments are communication arts, educational policy studies, French and Italian, history, political science, rural sociology, theatre and drama, women's studies, and the UW Faculty Senate.
The TAA is asking the university to continue providing zero-premium health care and increase wages.
