The Natural Resources Board of the Department of Natural Resources enlarged the herd reduction zone to fight chronic wasting disease Wednesday, according to The Capital Times.
The enlarged zone will include all of Rock and Walworth counties and parts of Jefferson, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha counties. The DNR wants to reduce the population of white-tailed deer in those areas to limit the disease.
The DNR also changed depopulation goals in parts of Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Richland and Green counties from zero to less than five deer per square mile.
The UW-La Crosse student discovered dead in the Mississippi River earlier this month is believed to have had a .40 blood alcohol level, which is five times the legal limit, according to The Associated Press.
UW-La Crosse junior Jared P. Dion was found dead on April 15, after last being seen by his friends around 2:30, after bar time, five days earlier.
John W. Steers, the La Crosse County medical examiner, said in a statement the 21-year-old died from freshwater drowning, with alcohol intoxication being a significant factor.
