Two long months for Harris, UW

June 24 must seem like years away for Devin Harris right now. In less than two months,

the junior guard for UW must decide whether or not he is going to forgo his senior year of eligibility for the NBA draft.

No matter what he does, the media circus surrounding him will get progressively worse until the decision is made.

As I watched the news the other night, trying to see how the Brewers did on opening day at Miller Park, I saw cameras focused on the junior's face as he told reporters what we all already knew: Harris has not decided yet and he wants to see whether or not he would be considered a lottery pick.

He knows what he would come back to if he decided to stay at UW for another year-a starting lineup of Harris, fellow seniors forward Mike Wilkinson and guard Sharif Chambliss, sophomore forward Alando Tucker and freshman center Brian Butch.

He also knows if he jumped, he would likely get picked up by Golden State, Cleveland or Toronto, teams all shown to have interest in him, according to mock drafts.

ESPN college basketball analyst Andy Katz came out and said if Harris stayed the Badgers would be one of the top five teams in the nation. Katz isn't known for being a homer, despite attending UW a little more than a decade ago, so for him to say UW could be that strong gives his claim some serious validity. Without Harris, Katz calls UW just another iffy team in the nation.

All this is weighing on Harris' mind, along with the last weeks of classes when every professor decides, \You know what, let's give you one more assignment before the final to make your life a living hell.""

If I were in his shoes, one: I'd be a damn good basketball player; two: I'd stay on campus. But then again, I'm a homer.

Hey, isn't Lee Evans going to be drafted soon?
