Women's track, cross country coach sues UW

UW-Madison women's track and cross country coach Peter Tegen filed suit against the university Monday, alleging age and gender discrimination prevented renewal of his coaching contract last spring.

Following the contract decision, the 64-year-old coach announced his retirement, effective this summer.

Tegen has coached at Wisconsin since 1975, producing two NCAA cross country championships, 43 national champions in track and cross country and three Olympians: Cindy Bremser, Suzy Favor Hamilton and Kathy Butler.
