News Brief

The beginning of a new UW-Madison master plan, a plan which will considerably alter the look of the university, was announced this week, defining construction projects around campus throughout the next decade, according to Gary Brown, director of the Office of Planning and Landscape Architecture.

\We've hired Ayers Saint Gross to develop the plan and then stay on as consultants to assist with the projects,"" Brown said.

The $600,000 in fees were split three ways between the university, the state and Madison Transportation Services-each contributing $200,000 to develop the university's new aesthetics.

Plans will alter the exterior of the Humanities building, add courtyards and open areas and improve transportation.

The public is invited to attend informational meetings and open forums about the master plan Tuesday, Oct. 12 at noon in the Red Gym and later that evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the WARF Building.
