Committee continues to plan State Street redesign

The State Street Design Project Oversight Committee met Thursday to make the final decisions on the Phase I of the State Street Design project and talk about the progress of Phase II.

The committee decided to plant trees as soon as possible rather than waiting until Halloween is over. According to City Engineer Steve Gohde the roofs of the bus shelters will be arriving next week. The lights of the shelters will also be running by then. The owner of the Bloom, 126 State St., and Carousel, 124 State St., said placing benches in front of the stores would interfere with outdoor vending.

Phase II is scheduled to start on July 1 and will take four months to complete. The committee will hold another meeting on Oct. 28 to make the final decisions on the budget and possibility of extending Phase II to Henry Street.
