Rock legend Bruce Springsteen will appear with the Foo Fighters and Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry at a rally Thursday at the state Capitol, according to WisPolitics. The Kerry campaign said Springsteen is expected to perform one or two songs.
In preparations for the rally, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz issued a statement Tuesday urging residents to adhere to downtown street closures beginning Wednesday. The 400 and 500 blocks of West Washington Avenue will be closed after morning rush hour Wednesday, and the 300 block of West Washington Avenue and the intersections of Broom and Basset streets will be closed late Wednesday night.
\I am asking residents to weather street closures in the next couple of days with civility and patience,"" he said in a statement. ""A presidential campaign only comes along every four years, and one this close happens only once or twice a century. It's worth some inconveniences to play this kind of role in history.""
