The UW Athletic Department announced Thursday that 2,100 students will receive season tickets for the upcoming men's basketball season after all.
Following a survey conducted by the Athletic Department earlier this week, students voted for the full allotment of season tickets rather than the proposed option of having 1,600 season packages and dividing the remaining 500 into four-game packages for those who lost out on the lottery.
\It was just about 52 percent to 48 percent,"" Associate Athletic Director Steve Malchow said. ""What was interesting was that more than 3,000 students voted out of 3,700, and most importantly, we are implementing the victorious choice- the one that got the majority of the votes-and I think that's important to respond to your constituencies.""
A lottery to determine who receives tickets will be conducted today and the list of students receiving tickets will be posted Monday at 9 a.m. at Gate A of the Kohl Center, on-line at www.uwbadgers.com and distributed via e-mail to all student ticket applicants.
""This week was a good exchange,"" Malchow said. ""In our town hall meeting, we got feedback from the students and, as it turned out, made an adjustment in our policy. I think that's good customer service.""
