AAU topples Badgers

The Wisconsin women's basketball team got its exhibition season underway Sunday but were edged out 82-79 by the Wisconsin AAU team.

Senior guard Stephanie Rich and freshman guard Jolene Anderson each had 18 points, but a 13-0 run early in the second half paved the way for the AAU team.

Anderson also had 11 rebounds, and junior forward Jordan Wilson also had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

After trailing by as much as 16 in the second half, the Badgers rallied to tie the game late but could not pull off the win.

Volleyball falls to Illinois

The Wisconsin volleyball team (10-4 Big Ten, 16-6 overall) lost its first match in nine games Friday after it was swept by Illinois.

The Badgers kept the first and third games close, falling 30-27 and 32-30, respectively, but were outplayed in the second game 30-20.

Women's hockey also swept

Just as the men's hockey team was swept at Minnesota this weekend, so too was the women's hockey team at Minnesota-Duluth, losing by just one goal in both games.

On Friday, Wisconsin trailed 3-1 heading into the third period, but scored twice to even it up. However, the Bulldogs battled back and scored with less than two minutes to play to take the game 4-3.

Saturday was just as close. The Bulldogs went up 2-0 when they scored 18 seconds into the third period. The Badgers came back with a short-handed goal late in the period, but their late rally came up short as they fell 2-1.
