Q: Hey DNC,
I was wondering if there is anything I can do nutritionally to prevent urinary tract infections.
A: The natural sugar in cranberry juice, D-mannose, prevents bacteria from attaching to your urinary tract. Compounds called proanthocyanidins, which are \condensed tannins"" found in cranberries and blueberries, can also prevent this adherence.
The most concentrated form of these tannins is found in cranberry juice. However, most cranberry juices are heavily sweetened, so look for unsweetened versions.
Also, drink plenty of water-and some friendly advice: Always PAP (pee after play)!
