Men's Track and Field
The Badgers made a great showing at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational Saturday. Eight Badger runners took the top spot in their events.
Sophomore Chris Solinsky completed the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:05.9, which earned him first-place in the event and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
The Badgers nabbed a one-two finish in the 400-meter dash when junior Chad Melote (49.18) and sophomore Dan Goesch (49.92) raced through the finish line.
Also of note, junior Brian Calhoun, a Colorado transfer, finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97.
Men's Hockey
The Badger icers completed a sweep of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Saturday night with 2-0 victory.
The first game, held on Friday night, also finished in a 2-0 win for the Badgers.
Wisconsin started a different goalie in the net each night. Sophomore Brian Elliot posted a shutout Friday night while Saturday night senior goaltender Bernd Br??ckler only needed to make 14 saves to post his eighth career shut-out.
The Badgers will skate against their rival Minnesota at the Kohl Center Feb. 2 at 7:07 p.m.
