The Madison Police Department will not allow Fox's television program \COPS"" to film the city's patrol for its 2005 season, according to the department's latest release.
A previous release issued by a ""COPS""' co-producer voiced interest in filming in Madison during the spring and summer. However, Public Information Officer Larry Kamholz said the show had not drafted any official plans concerning filming in Madison.
The department expressed appreciation for its consideration, yet cited various reasons for its refusal. It mentionedMadison's status as one of the ""safest cities in America"" as well as concerns about the privacy of individuals that the police encounter while on patrol.
The upcoming season will mark the seventeenth year of the show's production.
