UW-Madison junior Ryan MacMurchy, a forward on the UW hockey team, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery Wednesday for his role in a fight outside a Madison bar last fall, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
MacMurchy was arrested Sept. 5 for fighting outside the Kollege Klub, 515 N. Lake St.
MacMurchy has been placed in a first-offenders program and has signed a contract, the rules of which he must follow for a specified period of time. If MacMurchy fulfills the contract, the charges against him will be dropped. If not, he could face prison time.
Former UW basketball guard Maurice \Boo"" Wade had been in the first-offenders program until he stopped going to required appointments. Wade will be sentenced in March.
MacMurchy is third on the Badgers in scoring, with nine goals and 14 assists. He will not have to sit out any upcoming hockey games.
