Dawn Crim, a UW-Madison chancellor's office employee, was charged Tuesday with felony child abuse, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The charges against Crim, an assistant to LaMarr Billups, special assistant to UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley, came after she allegedly poked her 5-year-old son's hand several times with a pen, causing it to bleed, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
Crim was punishing her son after he allegedly poked one of his nursery school classmates with a pencil.
According to a criminal complaint, after the boy poked the other student with the pencil Jan. 10, the school sent a note home with him. When he was dropped off at school Jan. 12, a teacher noticed bandages on the boy's right hand. The boy then told the teacher his mother poked him several times with a pen.
Casey Nagy, special assistant to Chancellor Wiley, told the Wisconsin State Journal Crim will continue to work for the chancellor's office, where she is involved in community relations.
