Staff Opinion

Ryan Corcoran, Kami Eshraghi and Austin King will square off Tuesday for the opportunity to run for a seat on City Council. With the student-heavy district up for grabs, voters should look to the general election in April when voting.

For a competitive race, King should square off against Eshraghi. These two candidates have staked out distinct positions and will provide the contrast and qualifications that Corcoran simply has not offered.

For King, it looks like an easy road to April. He has name recognition and has been a driving force behind issues like inclusionary zoning and cabaret licenses. He has more than enough momentum to take him back to the City Council.

To ensure a vibrant race in the days ahead, Eshraghi should get your vote this Tuesday. As a small business owner downtown, he will provide King a worthy competitor in the coming months.

Of the people running for the District 13 alder seat, it is clear Sarah King and Isadore Knox Jr. have the most to offer the neighborhood. Both have served on various neighborhood committees worked in several civic organizations, and they each understand well what will be required of them should they be elected in April. We would like to see a race between the two most qualified candidates in April. We feel they are King and Knox.
