Family and friends of Paul Reisinger gathered Tuesday evening at Gunderson Funeral Home, 7435 University Ave., to lay the 65-year-old UW-Madison student to rest. Reisinger, who was discovered dead in Van Vleck Hall Friday, was a Division of Continuing Studies student participating in the senior guest auditors program.
\He was in this senior program where you can audit classes for free,"" UW spokesperson John Lucas said. ""It's like basically going to class and getting the benefit of the lectures and the information without actually taking the exams.""
Lucas added any Wisconsin senior over 60 can participate in the program.
Reisinger's participation in the senior auditing program was not his first university experience. He graduated from UW in 1962 and went on to receive his master's from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1968. Since his retirement from Allstate Insurance Company in 1995, Reisinger remained busy by serving on library boards and tutoring high school students in math. He was taking courses in mathematics at the time of his death.
Sources could not confirm a cause of Reisinger's death.
