I was excited to see a new feature entitled \New Beer Thursdays"" that had the potential to educate a greater mass of this campus on the expansive world of beer. An article with such potential couldn't possibly find a way to further degrade the image of beer, right? Apparently, the hold the ""big three"" beer companies has on this nation cannot be escaped, even by the independent and supposedly well-educated media.
Good intentions aside, the writers of this review-focused article cannot seem to find any better way to describe a beer beyond its abilities to get you wasted, an attribute that accounts for no less than one third of these short write-ups. Must you continue to bastardize beer culture by insisting that we, as college students, have nothing better to do during our free time than get drunk?
Please consider what it is you are actually doing. You are avoiding education and instead relying on stereotypical descriptions such as ""heavy,"" ""light"" or ""dark"" that have already destroyed most people's potential to understand what makes a good beer. I am actually surprised you haven't yet described a beer as being ""cold-tasting.""
For your sake and for the sake of your readers, please educate yourself before you attempt to educate others. There are plenty of books and magazines to help you on your way, as well as online resources, which I would recommend for those of you interested in actually learning about beer.
