Recent years have witnessed a disturbing trend in the brewing world. In an effort to market to a younger generation raised on sugary diets of candy and soda, brewers have created a new abundance of sweet malted drinks and flavored beers.
Leinenkugel's shares some of the blame, having created the awful Berry Weiss and only slightly better Honey Weiss. The brewer from the northwoods has now righted its damaged reputation.
Apple Spice is a delightfully crisp beer with a nice apple flavor. It probably wouldn't work well as a year-round beer but, as a holiday treat, this beer is right on the mark.
